Born and raised in Grand Haven, Jane Ladley grew up close to Lake Forest Cemetery. Her fascination with gravestone art and imagery was the result of the numerous walks she took there with her family as a child.
After several years of teaching high school in Maryland, Jane returned to the Grand Haven in 2007, and began working for the Tri-Cities Historical Museum in 2008. Almost immediately, she started putting together a guided historic walking tour of the cemetery for the public. She also helped organize the restoration and rededication of the Grand Army of the Republic Benjamin K. Weatherwax Post No. 75 monument and Civil War headstones in 2013.
Jane is a graduate of Grand Haven High School, Northern Michigan University, and has a master’s degree in education from Aquinas College. She currently lives in Spring Lake with her son Evan.
